Senate Passes SB II

Senate Passes SB II, An act amending the Undergraduate Student Government Downtown bylaws to ensure that appropriations funds within USDG are being used to fund clubs that serve a majority of undergraduate students

Dear Students,

Arizona - On August 25th, 2023, the Seventeenth Legislature met to consider Senate Bill II (SBII), An act amending the Undergraduate Student Government Downtown (USGD) bylaws to ensure that appropriations funds within USDG are being used to fund clubs that serve a majority of undergraduate students. The bill was passed with a vote of 11 to 0, and 4 abstains including people not present at Senate meetings.

USGD recognizes that USGD serves undergraduate students by distributing funds from the USGD student fee budget to student organizations. These funds enable them to host events, obtain promotional items, and advance professional development geared for undergraduate student success and well-being.

USGD recognizes that prior to Senate Bill II, student organizations had the ability to request funding for hosting events, obtaining promotional items, and advancing professional development regardless of undergraduate student participation.

SB II enacts the following:

  • In order for a club to request appropriations funding they must have a simple majority of Undergraduate Students
