The Executive Branch is led by the President, Vice President of Services and Vice President of Policy who are elected in the spring preceding the academic year of their term. Together, they are leading a team of student leaders focused on improving student life and access to resources. They oversee a team of directors who are responsible for specific initiatives. Nora Thompson is a senior studying public service public policy with a concentration in criminal justice. She transferred from Pima Community College in the spring of 2019. She joined Undergraduate Student Government Downtown as a Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions Senator in May 2019. Concurrently, she works as a First-Year Success Coach and sits on the Watts College Council. She plans to get her Master of Public Administration upon graduation.
Monica Medina is a senior studying health science with a concentration in health law and regulation and a minor in history. She joined Undergraduate Student Government Downtown in August 2019 as a College of Health Solutions Senator. Beyond USGD, She currently works as a Devil’s Advocate and is working to create her own college council inside The College of Health Solutions. After graduating she plans to get a degree in law, focusing on healthcare.
Vice President of Services
Renuka Vemuri is a sophomore studying medical studies. She joined Undergraduate Student Government Downtown in December 2018 as a Barrett, the Honors College Senator and was Senate President during the spring 2020 semester. Beyond USGD, She also works as a research aide for the ASU School Lunch Study. She is involved on campus as a Human Event Teaching Assistant, and as a volunteer for organizations like Global Launch and Banner University Medical Center. Upon graduation, she plans to get her medical degree and work as a family practice physician or neurologist.
Vice President of Policy
Karenna is a sophomore studying medical studies with a minor in business, and she is from Albuquerque, New Mexico. This is her second year in USGD. Last year she was a College of Health Solutions Senator, and her experience in that role inspired her to rise within the organization to help USGD represent and aid students to the best of its ability.
Chief of Staff
Jessica is a freshman pursuing a medical degree in the College of Health Solutions, and is also a part of Barrett, The Honors College. After receiving her undergraduate degree, she hopes to attend medical school and become a primary care physician in a rural community. Jessica is also a member of the American Medical Student Association, Barrett Leadership Service Team, Lions Club of the ASU Campus, and the American Medical Women's Association.
John Brown is a rising sophomore from the Chicagoland area. He is a broadcast journalism major and this is his second year in USGD. He is most excited about getting to work with other people in communications and learn to be a better journalist through student government. John previously served as an intern and a Senator for the Cronkite School. John currently serves on the Dean's Leadership team, Walter Cronkite College Council, and Society of Professional Journalists.

McKenna (she/her/hers) is a current sophomore studying Criminology and Criminal Justice at the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions. Throughout her college career, she has been given the opportunity to pursue various leadership roles, including her senatorship in USGD and within her residential college at Taylor Place . She is also an active member of Barrett, the Honors College and looks forward to serving the collective Barrett student body.

Fernanda is a first-generation sophomore studying journalism and mass communications with an emphasis on public relations and a minor in transborder Chicana/o and Latina/o studies. She grew up in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico but a few years back she returned to Phoenix, Arizona. She joined USGD in the Spring of 2020 as a way to better connect with her peers and serve as a mentor for fellow first-generation college students. She is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and the Walter Cronkite College Council.

Lance is a Junior studying Community Health & Health Entrepreneurship & Innovation Certificate: Cross-Sector Leadership. I have a passion of health equity, advocacy, and a nice bowl of bibimbap. My goal is to go to grad school in either sociology or public health then move up to work in global health initiatives. Some of my hobbies include reading, cooking, and binging on YouTube.

van dexter calo
Van is a Junior and is studying Medical Studies/Spanish Minor and Hospice and Palliative Care Certificate. Van has been involved with USGD as the Director of Safety, Health, and Wellness since Fall 2019 and is excited to continue that role this academic year. After graduating, Van Dexter Calo plans to go to medical school in 2023! His involvement with ASU's Global Medical Brigades and his own upbringing has inspired him to work specifically toward underprivileged countries as a future doctor. In his free time, he loves video editing, traveling, drinking coffee, and hanging out with family and friends!
